We celebrated Adrian’s 1st Birthday on July 26th. We decided to not hold the party at 1:53 am, when he was actually born, but instead was kind enough to wait until later afternoon. Unfortunately, several of the kids and parents that were invited couldn’t make it due to sick kids, but we did have a wonderful time with those that could make it.

I’m grateful for Mitch and Shannon who came out to photograph the party. My camera was in the shop and they were gracious enough to come memorialize the event. You can find more about them at Brishan Photography.

Amy, as usual, overdid herself.. especially in the cake department. She got both a normal cake and a “smash cake” for Adrian. She went for an Arabian Nights theme, and the cake maker really stepped up to the challenge.

For the party I flew up from Tampa. It made for a long day/night for me and as you can see in the pictures, I look exhausted because I was. It was nice for CENTCOM to let me fly home in the middle of a deployment, even if it was only for a day and a half.

Here’s the pictures of the party for you to enjoy. You’ll notice that despite multiple adults demonstrating the idea of a “smash cake” including Dad, Mom, and Grandma (thanks for coming out Grandma), Adrian wasn’t having any of it. I’m not sure who was the smart one here.. the adults that wore cake or the little boy that kept mostly clean.
