Sleepy Hollow is in the Hudson River Valley.  This is an actual town that was the basis for the characters in the “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” written by Washington Irving.  Next to the Sleepy Hollow cemetery is the Old Dutch Church which has been standing for several hundred years.  We toured the church and the cemetery.  Our guide, a young man from the town, was great.  He knew a lot and was very friendly to the point of running back to the church to grab a chair for Granpa to sit on.  His tour was a welcomed surprise and we learned a lot about the original church members and their role in the development of Irving’s story.
