On Saturday morning, we drove south and had a tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point. It was interesting, although there were no cadets on the base. Graduation was the week before, so all they had left was the groundskeepers and the tourist. It was a good tour, although it would have been nice to see more of how the cadets live, and not just the statutes and churches on the base. On thing that I wasn’t expecting was to see so many young Army officers in the cemetery. There were several killed in either Iraq or Afghanistan that were buried there, and that took me by surprise. I don’t know why I’d be surprised, but I guess I only expected those from earlier wars there.
