I had an informal job interview today. It is tradition that officers are given the opportunity to move jobs after about a year in a new job. It gives them a chance to try something new. At the same time, my boss announced yesterday that I was going to be the new Deputy Program Manager for our new Flexible Weapons program.
So, either I’ll be moving to a new job, or I’ll be taking the new job that was just assigned to me. I’m hoping to move to the new job since it is working software, which is something I enjoy. However, it will be difficult for my potential new job to get me due to manpower issues.
If I do become the Flex Weapons Deputy PM, then I’ll be moving from my current job of Chief of Staff, and I’ll get back into program management. It is something that I can do well, but I do prefer working software over weapons.
